Real estate professionals and home inspectors say:
Having your sewer line inspected is a worthwhile investment. It can save you money, time and headaches in the end!

Did you know that repairing or replacing a sewer line can cost from $2,500 to $10,000?

Real Estate Agents Advise

Most real estate professionals agree that having your sewer lines inspected is money well spent. It doesn't hurt to have your lines inspected even if it is a newer home, because construction debris can be a culprit, but if your home meets this criteria:

  • Older homes
  • Mature trees in the yard
  • Sewer lines have never been replaced

Most Home Inspectors Agree

It is not uncommon for homes, especially older homes, to have hidden sewer problems. A TV/video scope inspection of the underground drain/sewer by a professional is recommended. The condition of certain parts of pipe is unknown unless a scope inspection is performed. If a pipe fails or is blocked, a home could be flooded with sewage.

Newer homes can also have problems due to construction debris or crushing of pipes during backfill.
